Smart Glass for Transport Industry

Glare and heat control create continuous challenging conditions for the transport industry, whether it be in airplanes, trains, buses or cars. Travellers are impacted by direct sunlight exposure behind the glass, which can be hindering and impacting comfort levels. On the other side, you do not want to impact the view of the surroundings with sun blinds or permanently tinted glass.

 Our switchable glass technology controls the glare and heat which users feel, without jeopardizing the view to the open air outside.

This allows an enhanced view to the environment, whilst reducing HVAC (Heating, Ventilation & Air-Conditioning) requirements. This immediately impacts the fuel consumption of cars, notably electric cars, but also for trains and buses. As our default, unpowered-mode is the dark status, there is also less heat build up when the power is switched off during parking.

Car interiors are notorious for getting hot in full sun light. The interior absorbs the light and as the car is a secluded space, heating up goes almost unlimited. Tinted glass provides a solution for heated seats and surfaces.Switching the glass to its darkest level, the interior gains less heat. The view is still preserved: you can look outside without noticeable haze.

eLstar Dynamics’ technology offers low-haze and no halo-effect windows. Depending on your wishes, our dynamic range goes from below 1% light transmission to well over 60% light transmission.
