Are you a passionate Chemical Engineer with a strong background in polymer chemistry, eager to push the boundaries of innovation? As our Chemical Engineer in South China, you will play a key role in eLstar’s global commercial launch, working on cutting-edge technology that makes the world more sustainable, as part of an innovative startup environment bringing a revolutionary product to market. You are the guardian of our core technology, the ink, bridging formulation and final product between South China and our engineering team in Eindhoven.

You have strong knowledge of colloidal chemistry, dispersion, and emulsion development, can quickly identify roadblocks and act, and are able to translate deep chemistry into market-ready solutions. You clearly communicate technical aspects internally and externally, and take full ownership of your lab and results.

  • Master the Formula: Design and optimize electrophoretic ink formulations and drive pigment surface engineering to perfection.
  • Create the Pathway: Develop and refine synthesis pathways for pigment modification.
  • Validate the Science: Plan and execute rigorous electrophoretic ink testing and performance evaluations.
  • Set the Standard: Establish and implement SOPs for ink formulation and pigment modification, ensuring quality as we scale.
  • Bridge the Teams: Collaborate with internal teams and external partners, supervising key projects and ensuring seamless communication between China and Europe.

  • Strong background in polymer chemistry
  • Experience in colloidal chemistry, dispersion, and emulsion development (bonus: electrophoretic inks)
  • Expertise in pigment engineering, ink formulation, and ink characterization (FTIR, GPC/SEC, rheometers, viscometers, TGA, DLS, UV-Vis)
  • Experience in lab operations, equipment maintenance, and EHS practices
  • Fluent in both Chinese and English
  • Currently residing in the South China region
